Why Does Water Leak Out of My Furnace in Maumelle, AR?

It’s not unusual for furnaces to accumulate water as part of their normal operation. The furnace should deposit this water outside or into a sink or drain through pipes or hoses. Read further to see some of the reasons your furnace could leak water onto the floor of your home in Maumelle, AR.

Drainage Pipes or Hoses Have Clogs

When water condenses from the air, it usually has sediments. When these sediments collect in your furnace’s drainage pipes and/or hoses, they can eventually cause a blockage. At that point, the water will back up and wind up on the floor.

Faulty Inducer Assembly

Before your furnace runs, the inducer will start. Its job is to flush waste gas from the furnace so fresh air can flow in. This function can cause condensation to form, and if the assembly has a crack, it could cause water to accumulate on the floor.

One of the first signs of a possible inducer problem is if it’s making unusual noises or rattling. Because fixing the inducer is not a DIY project, you’ll need an expert to repair it.

Malfunctioning Humidifier

Furnace humidifiers have a water line that connects to them. Not all furnaces have them, but if your furnace does, something going wrong with this component can result in water leakage.

Broken Heat Exchanger

The heat exchanger is a metal shield between your furnace’s combustion chamber and the blower. If it cracks, then it could leak the condensation that forms during its operation.
